Building an Indian Diet that Actually Works for Weight Loss

Most weight-loss diets fail in Indian homes because they ignore Indian kitchens. You don't need quinoa bowls or imported protein powder. You need to re-balance what's already on your plate.
Start with portion control. A standard thali serves enough carbs for two meals. Halve the rice, halve the roti, and double the sabzi. That single change can cut 300 calories a day without a single new ingredient.
Next, anchor every meal around protein — paneer, dahi, sprouts, eggs, chicken or fish. Most Indians eat under 40g of protein a day; you need closer to 1g per kg of body weight. Protein keeps you full, protects muscle while you lose fat, and stops the 4pm sugar crash.
Finally, time your meals. Eat your heaviest meal before sunset. Light dinner, no snacking after 8pm, and a 12-hour overnight fast. Boring? Yes. Effective? Absolutely.
